Security Essentials: Investing in the future

Most people may readily admit that in their adolescence school was not a high priority. Many may even say they could not wait to graduate from high school, or even college, with the idea they would never have to step foot into another classroom again.
But as we get older, and become professionals, whether it’s a car mechanic, schoolteacher, banker or security integrator, we come to realize that learning never stops. We may even appreciate the opportunities to expand our knowledge base about the latest car diagnostic technologies or risk management processes in the financial world.
In the security industry, technology is ever changing. One day, video analytics is the hot topic requiring integrators to get up to speed on the latest video analytic solution providers, installation techniques and how to trouble shoot problems. Today, the most talked about technologies include 4K resolution cameras and h.265 video compression standard, just to name a few.
But how do we stay up to speed on the latest technology developments in the market? We are fortunate that our industry provides multiple opportunities to learn and grow as security professionals. The access control and video manufacturers we work with provide training, and often times certification programs, on the solutions they provide. We also invest in conferences held throughout the year and North America.
This week marks the start of the ISC West tradeshow in Las Vegas, bringing together more than 25,000 security professionals to attend 60 educational sessions and visit more than 1,000 exhibitors who are showcasing their latest security products, software and services.
Attending events like this is an important investment for many security professionals, including Security-Net. We will be at ISC West to meet with our Security-Net partners, customers, vendors and attend many of the educational programs the conference offers.
We recognize that learning is a lifelong process. And in the security industry, staying abreast of the latest technologies and techniques is critical to ensure that Security-Net continues to meet the needs of clients.
